In Antwerp, too, we continue to work toward our mission: keeping hospitalized children close to their families.
RMH Belgium currently operates a Ronald McDonald House on the UZ Brussel campus in Jette and
two Ronald McDonald Vacation Homes (Vielsalm and De Haan).
The new Ronald McDonald Living Room at ZAS will provide additional comfort and support to families of patients staying in the NICU. These families come not only from the greater Antwerp region but also from across the country, as the ZAS NICU will be the premier center of expertise for premature babies requiring intensive care. The creation of a living room at ZAS will significantly expand the reach and impact of our mission for families with babies who require intensive care and who find it difficult to leave their child’s bedside even for a short time, or who wish to or must remain on the hospital campus to actively participate in their child’s care as part of family-centered care.
The Ronald McDonald Living Room, located on the first floor, is an integral part of the new wing at the ZAS Campus Augustinus. This approximately 250-square-meter space is being furnished and decorated to create a warm, home-like environment where parents can eat, take a break, rest, have a cup of coffee, or simply spend time with other family members outside their hospital room.
The new NICU unit, including the Ronald McDonald Family Room at ZAS, is scheduled to open in the third quarter of 2027.
